Royal Caribbean rarely stands still, and there’s already plenty happening across the cruise line in 2027.
From new ships and destinations to changes across the existing fleet, some of the plans are much bigger than others. And with Royal Caribbean continuing to invest heavily in both its ships and private destinations, there could still be more announcements to come.
So if you’re planning a Royal Caribbean cruise in 2027, here are the biggest changes you need to know about.
1. Hero of the Seas Will Launch in 2027
Royal Caribbean will welcome another huge new ship in 2027, with Hero of the Seas set to become the fourth ship in the Icon Class.
She’s due to launch in August 2027 and will sail from Miami, offering six and eight-night Caribbean cruises that include visits to Perfect Day at CocoCay.
And while Hero will share plenty with Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas and Legend of the Seas, she won’t be an exact copy.
Royal Caribbean has already revealed some new features, including cooking classes and an expanded family area called Playscape, while the Ultimate Family Townhouse will be replaced by a new three-storey Ultimate Family Treehouse.
There’ll also be 28 places to eat, including some new additions. The Orleans Parish Supper Club will combine Cajun and Creole food with live jazz and paired cocktails, while AquaDome Market will get four new food stands. Hero will also have its own version of the immersive Royal Railway dining experience, called Hero Station.
Hero of the Seas floated out for the first time in September 2026, so construction is now well underway ahead of her debut next summer.
For anyone who loves Royal Caribbean’s biggest ships, this is easily one of the most exciting additions coming in 2027.
2. Perfect Day Mexico Will Open in 2027
Royal Caribbean is taking the idea behind Perfect Day at CocoCay and creating a much bigger version in Mexico.
Perfect Day Mexico is due to open in autumn 2027, close to the cruise port of Costa Maya. At more than 200 acres, it’ll be one of Royal Caribbean’s biggest destination projects yet.
There’ll be seven different areas to explore, with more than 30 waterslides, more than six pools and a huge lazy river that Royal Caribbean says will be the longest in the world.
The biggest attraction will be Loco Waterpark, where the waterslide tower will stand more than 170 feet tall. But it won’t all be about thrill rides, with beaches, pools, restaurants, bars and quieter areas planned too.
Unlike a normal port day in Costa Maya, Perfect Day Mexico will be designed specifically for Royal Caribbean guests, much like CocoCay in the Bahamas.
And with the first visits planned for autumn 2027, it’s likely to become a major feature of Royal Caribbean’s Caribbean itineraries pretty quickly.
3. Royal Beach Club Lelepa Will Open in 2027
Royal Caribbean is also adding a brand-new private destination in the South Pacific in 2027.
Royal Beach Club Lelepa is due to open in Vanuatu during the 2027-28 Australian cruise season, with the first visits planned from October 2027.
It’ll be Royal Caribbean’s first exclusive destination in the Southern Hemisphere, with cruises visiting from both Sydney and Brisbane.
And unlike Royal Caribbean’s other Royal Beach Clubs, you won’t need to buy a day pass. Entry to Lelepa, including unlimited island dining, will be included in your cruise fare.
Royal Caribbean has also said the experience will celebrate Vanuatu’s culture and natural surroundings, rather than simply recreating one of its Caribbean destinations.
It gives cruisers sailing from Australia something completely new to look forward to in 2027, particularly if you’ve already visited some of the more familiar South Pacific ports.

4. Royal Beach Club Cozumel Will Be New for 2027
Another Royal Caribbean beach club is due to open before the end of 2026, which means 2027 will be its first full year welcoming guests.
Royal Beach Club Cozumel is scheduled to open in December 2026, joining the Royal Beach Club in Nassau and giving cruisers another option for their day in Mexico.
The club will have two pools, including a family pool and an adults-only pool, plus swim-up bars and plenty of beachfront space with loungers and cabanas.
Food and drinks are included with the day pass, with Mexican-inspired dishes served at three restaurants and street food available from a market-style area.
This isn’t another Perfect Day at CocoCay though. Access will cost extra, so you’ll need to buy a day pass if you want to visit.
With the opening coming so late in 2026, most cruisers won’t actually get to experience Royal Beach Club Cozumel until 2027.
5. Royal Caribbean Will Start Sailing From San Diego
Royal Caribbean is adding a brand-new US homeport in late 2026, with cruises from San Diego beginning in October.
Serenade of the Seas will be based there, offering cruises to Mexico that continue into 2027.
Itineraries will include Ensenada and longer sailings along the Mexican Riviera, with visits to destinations including Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. La Paz will be a new port for Royal Caribbean.
Until now, Royal Caribbean’s Southern California cruises have mainly sailed from Los Angeles, so San Diego gives passengers another option without having to travel to San Pedro.
The first cruises will depart towards the end of 2026, but 2027 will be the first year cruisers can take advantage of a full season of Royal Caribbean sailings from San Diego.
6. Icon of the Seas Will Start Sailing From Texas
Royal Caribbean is bringing one of its biggest ships to Texas for the first time in 2027.
From August 2027, Icon of the Seas will move to Galveston, where she’ll offer six, seven and eight-night cruises to the Caribbean.
The itineraries will include destinations such as Cozumel, Roatán and Costa Maya, with some cruises also visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay.
It’s a big change for anyone who wants to try an Icon Class ship without travelling to Florida. Icon of the Seas has been based in Miami since she launched in 2024, so her move to Galveston gives cruisers another major homeport to choose from.
And with Royal Caribbean continuing to invest heavily in its new terminal in Galveston, sending one of its most famous ships there shows just how important Texas has become to the cruise line.
7. Labadee Cruises Are Suspended Until At Least June 2027
Royal Caribbean’s private destination in Haiti will remain off itineraries for longer than originally expected.
Visits to Labadee are now suspended until at least June 2027, with affected cruises being changed to visit other destinations instead.
Royal Caribbean first stopped calling at Labadee again in 2025 because of the ongoing security situation in Haiti. The suspension has since been extended several times, and it now affects cruises well into 2027.
There are still Royal Caribbean itineraries showing Labadee from July 2027 onwards, so the destination hasn’t disappeared from future plans completely.
But whether those visits actually go ahead will depend on the situation in Haiti. If you have a 2027 cruise booked with Labadee on the itinerary, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

And There’s Even More Coming After 2027
Royal Caribbean is already making plans well beyond 2027, including an entirely new class of cruise ship.
The first Discovery Class ship is expected to arrive in 2029. Royal Caribbean hasn’t revealed much about it yet, but the new class is expected to be smaller than its huge Icon Class ships, potentially allowing it to visit destinations that the biggest ships simply can’t reach.
The Icon Class is growing too. Royal Caribbean has already ordered two more ships, currently known as Icon 6 and Icon 7, for 2029 and 2030.
So while those aren’t changes you’ll see in 2027, they show that Royal Caribbean has plenty more planned for the years that follow.

There’s a lot for Royal Caribbean cruisers to look forward to in 2027.
Hero of the Seas will be the biggest new arrival, but Perfect Day Mexico and Royal Beach Club Lelepa are pretty exciting additions too. Add in new options from San Diego and Texas, plus the opening of Royal Beach Club Cozumel just before the year begins, and there’ll be plenty that feels different.
And with even more ships and destinations already planned for the years ahead, Royal Caribbean certainly isn’t slowing down.
